
Your routes into a green job
You don't have to have it all worked out. Most people change their plans many times. But here are some simple steps you can take now.
At school
• Enjoy and study the subjects thatlink to nature, science, design or engineering: Biology, Chemistry, Physics,Geography, Maths, Art and Design and Technology.
• Get involved in eco-clubs, gardening clubs or science fairs.
• Read about climate change andnature on websites like ours, Better Planet Education.
Outside school
• Volunteer with a local wildlifetrust, community garden or beach clean.
• Try a small green project at home— grow vegetables, build a bird box, or fix up an old bike.
• Talk to your family about savingenergy and reducing waste.
After GCSEs
• Apprenticeships: earn money whileyou learn a green job, often without going to university.
• T-levels: two-year courses for16-19 year-olds that mix study with real work in areas like engineering,construction and agriculture.
• A-levels and college courses: agreat route into science, engineering or environmental jobs.
• University: needed for some jobslike ecologist or climate scientist, but not for many others.
