Report on Letters For Change campaign

Better Planet Education 's Young Trustee, Claire Ducharme has created this special report on the charity's letter writing campaign for primary schools.

Letters For Change encouraged children in Key Stage 2 to write letters to the Secretary of State for Education to request that they should have lessons on climate change whilst still in primary school. The government's recently announced Curriculum Review has included climate education in the new Curriculum, but it's not due to be released into schools until September 2028, which means that none of the children who have written letters will receive a compulsory lesson on climate change before they get to secondary school.

With climate change being a really important issue that young people need to know about, Better Planet Education is pushing for compulsory climate education to be brought forwards and has requested that the Secretary of State for Education considers accelerating climate education for primary school children in England.
