Young Trustee Claire Ducharme says that although most children want more time in nature and most parents value it, families are spending less time outdoors as the days shorten, even though green spaces bring real health benefits and save the NHS money. She suggests ways to stay connected with nature through autumn and winter, including birdwatching, picking your own seasonal produce, visiting pumpkin patches, composting, fungi spotting, conservation volunteering and making wreaths from things you find on woodland walks.
