Climate Scientist

What they do: Climate scientists study how our planet's climate is changing. They use computers, satellites and field trips to gather data. Their findings tell governments how to act, and warn us about floods, heatwaves and droughts.
Why it matters: We can't fix climate change without first understanding it. Climate scientists give us the facts that guide every other green job.
Typical UK pay: Around £28,000 to start, £40,000–£55,000 with experience, and £60,000–£80,000+ for senior scientists.
How to get into it:
• Strong subjects to enjoy: Maths,Physics, Chemistry, Geography and Computing.
• Most climate scientists study a degree in Physics, Geography, Environmental Science or Meteorology.
• Many then do a Master's or PhD.The Met Office offers science apprenticeships too.
