Solar Panel Installer

What they do: Solar panel installers fit solar panels to the roofs of houses, schools, factories and farms. The panels turn sunlight into electricity.
Why it matters: Every solar panel cuts the amount of fossil fuels we burn. Sunlight is free, and there is plenty of it — even in the UK.
Typical UK pay: Around £22,000 starting, going up to £45,000 or more for skilled installers, especially those who can wire batteries too.
How to get into it:
• Useful school subjects includeMaths, Physics and Design and Technology.
• You can do an electrician apprenticeship and then add solar training, or do a Level 3 solar PV installer course at a college.
• You don't need a university degree, and you can usually start training straight after GCSEs.
