Green Jobs - Sustainable Fashion Designer

Sustainable Fashion Designer

What they do: Sustainable fashion designers create clothes in ways that are kinder to the planet. They use recycled fabrics, dyes that don't pollute rivers, and designs that last for years instead of months.

Why it matters: The fashion industry is one of the biggest polluters on Earth. Every piece of clothing made the green way means less waste and less pollution.

Typical UK pay: Around £22,000 starting, £35,000 to £45,000 with experience, and much more for famous or senior designers.

How to get into it:

•      Enjoy Art, Design and Technology, and Textiles at school.

•      You can do a college course or degree in Fashion Design, often with a focus on sustainability.

•      Try upcycling old clothes at home— many famous sustainable designers started exactly that way.
