Net Zero - Net Zero: Balancing greenhouse gases like a see-saw!

Net Zero:
Balancing greenhouse gases like a see-saw!

You’ve almost certainly heard the term ‘net zero’ before.  It’s used all the time in the media, by politicians, councils and businesses.  But what does it actually mean?

Imagine planet Earth’s atmosphere as a giant see-saw.  On one side of the see-saw, we have things that make greenhouse gases. Greenhouse gases trap heat in the lower parts of the atmosphere, helping to increase temperatures near the planet’s surface.  You can think of them as being like an invisible blanket around the Earth that traps heat (which is why it's called the greenhouse effect – like a greenhouse for plants!).
