All About Dragonflies (Year 2)

Did you know that dragonflies have been around for over 300 million years — even longer than the dinosaurs? In this lesson for Year 2 children, pupils discover the extraordinary world of dragonflies, from their fascinating underwater life cycle to their incredible flying abilities and their remarkable eyes that can see almost everything around them at once. The lesson links to the Year 2 National Curriculum for Science (Living things and their habitats; Animals including humans) and includes suggested starter and follow-up activities such as life cycle sequencing, creative writing, and a prehistoric size comparison task. Teacher notes are provided slide by slide to accompany a PowerPoint presentation.
