African Savanna: Plants and animals

Children will enjoy learning about plants and animals in this unfamiliar habitat. As always, this lesson plan is accompanied by a Powerpoint presentation, which is packed full of great photos that children will enjoy identifying.  Aimed at Key Stages 1 and 2, key areas covered include:

  • Plants and animals of the African Savanna (including key terms such as mammal, bird, reptile, amphibian)
  • Carnivore, herbivore or omnivore?
  • Adaptation to hot, dry conditions
  • Food chains
