Warmest May on record changes Americansâ€™ views on climate change

Belief in evidence of climate change seems to depend on people’s political views. 90% of Democrats believe that there is real evidence for climate change while just 50% of Republicans (the party of Donald Trump) are convinced that climate change is real.

The National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA)’s recently announced that May 2018 was the warmest in the continental US since records began in 1895. The high temperatures are still there across much of the country, with Death Valley in California reaching 52C (125.6F) on 8 July.

The United States, with a population of 325.7 million people is the second biggest emitter of greenhouse gases in the world, second only to China, with a population of 1.4 billion people.
