BILLIE MARTEN BIO

Yorkshire-born, London-based folk singer-songwriter Isabella Tweddle—professionally known as Billie Marten—has been writing and performing music since childhood, releasing her debut EP at age 15. Now, more than a decade into her career, Billie has released three EPs (Ribbon, 2014; As Long As, 2015; Acoustic, 2021) and four albums (Writing of Blues and Yellows, 2016; Feeding Seahorses by Hand, 2019; Flora Fauna, 2021; Drop Cherries, 2023), all of which have received critical acclaim.

In late 2024, following her own headline touring throughout the UK, Europe and US, including appearances at festivals like Glastonbury and Newport Folk Festival, Billie performed a sold-out headline show at London’s Barbican Centre. Accompanied by free-form string group, Her Ensemble, Billie performed orchestral renditions of her back catalogue to a standing ovation. A seasoned songwriter and musician, Billie is held in high esteem by fans, industry and musical peers alike in the UK and abroad. She is currently working on new music and planning to tour internationally in 2025.

Billie has a passion for nature and literature, and derives writing inspiration from said things. She’s an avid reader, horse rider, gardener, rambler, and takes most pleasure from being within the natural world. She believes in fighting the good fight for the environment and educating the youngest generations to follow suit. Better Planet Education is a cause she is proud to represent and in doing so hopes others will become more involved—particularly in the area of music and climate change, sustainable touring, sustainable packaging and general environmental awareness within the creative community.
