Alec is enthusiastic about all things marine and strives to communicate his passion for a sustainable future to forthcoming generations. With an MNatiSci in Natural Sciences from Leeds University, he has studied key threats to our environment from both biological and chemical perspectives, including a thesis on the impacts of sewage outfall on intertidal ecosystems. He seeks to use this holistic approach to ensure those currently in education are fully informed about the climate crisis.

In the summer of 2025, Alec worked with the Sea Watch Foundation in New Quay, Wales, studying the semi-resident population of bottlenose dolphins. Now, as a regional coordinator for Sea Watch in South Devon and a Young Trustee of Better Planet Education, he hopes to inform younger generations about the diversity of cetaceans and marine life found in UK waters, along with how to protect them.

Through Better Planet Education, Alec would love to gain more experience in science communication and cannot wait to continue his contribution to sustainable projects.
